11 questions meme

  1. Post the rules
  2. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and then make 11 new ones.
  3. Tag 11 people and link them to your post.
  4. Let them know you’ve tagged them.

  1. what is your favourite book? The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
  2. what was the last movie you saw? The Avengers. It was so AWESOME. AKLFKDSLADLKF. In the theater, 2 weeks ago, I mean. If we’re strictly talking about just movies… rumor has it I sat through a Bratz animated movie about pixies with my seven year old cousin this week.
  3. do you have a pet? if not, what pet would you like? I used to have a bird? And then it died. I don’t think I’m much of a pet person—claws and teeth freak me out. And then I’m asthmatic and lazy, so pets and I really aren’t a good mix.
  4. top 5 cities to visit? It used to be: New York, Tokyo, Seoul, London, Paris. Now it’s Tokyo, Paris, London, Seoul and Beijing since I’ve gone to New York. FIRST WORLD CITIES, I WILL GET ENOUGH MONEY TO LIVE IN YOU TEMPORARILY SOME DAY.
  5. if you could make all your friends watch a television show of your choosing, which one would you pick? I’d make them sit through a Korean drama or something, since most of my friends and I infect each other with American shows enough. Hmm.., I’d make them all watch My Girl with me.
  6. favourite meal? Pizza and coke. :D For Filipino food, sinigang and rice beats everything. EVERYTHING. Except maybe bagnet. Bagnet, sinigang and rice ftw!
  7. last played song? Beautiful Disaster (Live) - Kelly Clarkson
  8. do you like fantasy as a genre?  YES. It’s my favorite genre. It’s surprisingly the first genre I wrote a chaptered fic in too. I love reading it but didn’t actually think I could write it, so that was a good surprise.
  9. how long would you last in a zombie apocalypse? WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS LAURA, YOU KNOW I’D BE TURNED ASAP. I can’t run to save my life, and while I do have enough common sense to last for a little bit and not run off alone in only a towel to check the basement or the woods, I freeze when I panic. And that is how the zombie will bite me.
  10. favourite subject at school? in high school, it was English. Then it was Literature for the first year in college, and then I didn’t have that anymore after it. History (2 sems of 2nd year), Psychology (summer semester of 2nd year), Ideologies of the European Union(1 sem of junior year), (4 semesters of) Philosophy and (1 sem in senior year) Pop Culture are other memorable subjects.
  11. do you have any siblings? Yes, I’ve got a sister, older by 6 years and a brother who’s younger by seven. We’re siblings but we aren’t friends.

So this is what it feels like to be ripped off. At least change the colors, James Templeton.

Funnily enough, you brought me to you:

I took this post down yesterday because I decided to confront James Templeton first. I found out that he was hotlinking my CSS and JS files (!!!) so I renamed my stylesheet and his site was unstyled for a while.

But then, he just uploaded his “own” stylesheet, BUT he didn’t reply, so now I’m going to have to make an angry post, I guess.

I’m mad because I worked really hard on this layout, coding it from a bare-bones theme (see here), and we are both designers by profession and my email was nice and polite and explained why I wanted him to take down his stolen layout. And he flat out ignores it and uploads a different CSS.

Currently, he’s still linking to some of my files. It’s pretty upsetting.

Here’s a more detailed entry on how James Templeton stole Carina’s layout. ”In which some guy from Tennessee decided he wanted to steal a layout from a 23-year-old girl from a third world country.”

My thoughts on this: Not Cool. Every little piece of graphic—whether it’s as simple as an icon or wallpaper or to the complex CSS design codes—takes work. Add to the fact that a lot of Developed Countries’ citizens don’t know how hard it is for us “Developing” (Third World) countries to pursue humanities and artistic professions (a good example would be to read up on how to get published in a third world country vs those American ‘How To Get Published’ manuals and see the stark difference), this just outright makes my blood boil.

Me: Oh, she's our aunt. Okay, accept.
Me: And then put her in the relatives list.
Sam: They know though.
Sam: They get like, an alert when you put them on a list.
Me: Really?
Sam: Yeah.
Sam: (sees the long list of unaccepted friend requests on my facebook homepage) Oh my god. Why are you rejecting all those people?
Me: I'm not rejecting them!
Me: I'm just...not adding them.
Sam: I feel bad for them.
Me: I don't add people I don't know? Even if we have mutual friends.
Sam: I once did that.
Sam: I thought it was someone from Michelle's year, but it turned out she was this crazy girl who was just adding everyone in school so she'd have a thousand friends.
Me: ...although most of these I actually know.
Sam: (looks at me)
Me: ... I don't add people I don't like.
